چکیده
Abstract Introduction Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA) is the most common sleep-related breathing disorder with an estimated prevalence of approximately 15-30 percent in males and 10-15 females. A low respiratory arousal threshold (ArTH) one several traits involved OSA pathogenesis. This has been shown to be reliably predicted using Arousal Score which calculated patients overall Apnoea-Hypopnoea Index (AHI), nadir SpO2 Hypopnoea:Apnoea ratio where a score 2 or more predicts threshold, 1 indicates high threshold. Our objective was describe factors associated thresholds as determined by metropolitan population. Methods 208 unselected, consecutive, adult, overnight polysomnography prospectively scores were assessed from 2019 – 2020. Demographic anthropometric data including Age, Sex, BMI, Epworth Sleepiness (ESS), AHI, nadir, index recorded. The assigning point for meeting each following requirements: AHI <30; > 82.8%; 58.3, <2 considered low. Spearmann correlation performed determine Score. Results included study. 35.6% had mild sleep apnoea, 23.1% moderate 22.6% severe apnoea 18.8% no apnoea. Mean 2.47 (Std Dev 0.839). Spearman indicated that disease severity, BMI (rs -.374, p-value < 0.01) STOP-BANG (r2 -0.419, statistically significant relationship That is, higher score. Moreover, Gender exhibited insignificant association We found increasing severity lower therefore Conclusion study demonstrates worsening are ESS do not appear significantly associated. Restorative Treatment Thresholds: Factors Influencing the Treatment Thresholds and Modalities of General Dentists in Kuwait
OBJECTIVES This study investigated the thresholds at which general dentists in Kuwait would restore approximal and occlusal carious lesions and examined the demographic characteristics of the dentists in relation to their decision making. SUBJECTS AND METHODS The study population consisted of a random sample of 185 general dentists practicing in the Ministry of Health of Kuwait. A survey ques...
متن کاملHyper-Arousal Decreases Human Visual Thresholds
Arousal has long been known to influence behavior and serves as an underlying component of cognition and consciousness. However, the consequences of hyper-arousal for visual perception remain unclear. The present study evaluates the impact of hyper-arousal on two aspects of visual sensitivity: visual stereoacuity and contrast thresholds. Sixty-eight participants participated in two experiments....
متن کاملDopamine in Drosophila: setting arousal thresholds in a miniature brain.
In mammals, the neurotransmitter dopamine (DA) modulates a variety of behaviours, although DA function is mostly associated with motor control and reward. In insects such as the fruitfly, Drosophila melanogaster, DA also modulates a wide array of behaviours, ranging from sleep and locomotion to courtship and learning. How can a single molecule play so many different roles? Adaptive changes with...
متن کاملArousal thresholds during human tonic and phasic REM sleep.
The goal of the present study was to investigate arousal thresholds (ATs) in tonic and phasic episodes of rapid eye movement (REM) sleep, and to compare the frequency spectrum of these sub-states of REM to non-REM (NREM) stages of sleep. We found the two REM stages to differ with regard to behavioural responses to external acoustic stimuli. The AT in tonic REM was indifferent from that in sleep...
متن کاملSociodemographic Factors Influencing Vietnamese Patient Satisfaction with Healthcare Services and Some Meaningful Empirical Thresholds
Background This short communication report some new results obtained from a medical survey among 900 Vietnamese patients in 2015, looking into possibly influential sociodemographic factors as far as patient satisfaction is concerned, to establish empirical relationships between them for policy implications. Methods The study employed the baseline category logit models to establish empirical r...
